Tips
  • We recommend a scale to measure out the coffee and water to get the most consistent results.
  • The better the quality of water you use the better your coffee will taste.
  • Always keep your drip machine and carafe clean.
  • Use a new filter every time you brew.
  • Pay attention to the roast level of your coffee when measuring it out, as darker roasts are less
dense (i.e. weigh less) than lighter roasts. Fit Grinds uses a medium roast for all its coffees.

French press

Equipment Needed

Fit Grinds coffee, kettle to heat water, French Press (including glass brewing container and plunger), spoon, water, timer, scale

How it works
  1. Use a scale or use teaspoons/tablespoons to measure the coffee according to the below table. We highly recommend using a scale when possible.
  2. Heat enough water to make the coffee based on the table below plus a few extra ounces that will be used to pre-heat the carafe. Ideally, the water should beheated to about 200 degrees (+/- 5 degrees) Fahrenheit.
  3. Pour a few ounces of hot water into the French Press and swirl it around to pre-heat it. Dump out the water used to preheat the carafe and add ground coffee to the bottom of the French Press.
  4. Add just enough hot water to cover the coffee and stir with a spoon, letting it sit for 15 – 30 seconds.
  5. Add the remaining water and stir. Then put the lid on (do not push the plunger down) and start a timer for 3.5 – 4 minutes.
  6. Once the 3.5 – 4 minutes has passed, press the plunger down. The coffee is now ready to serve and drink.

Pour Over

Equipment Needed

Fit Grinds coffee, kettle to heat water, pour-over dripper, carafe, pour-over filter appropriately sized for your dripper, spoon, water, timer, scale

How it works
  1. Use a scale or use teaspoons/tablespoons to measure the coffee according to the below table. We highly recommend using a scale when possible.
  2. Heat enough water to make the coffee based on the table below plus a few extra ounces that will be used to pre-heat the dripper and carafe. Ideally, the water should be heated to about 200 degrees (+/- 5 degrees) Fahrenheit.
  3. Place the filter inside of the dripper and set above the carafe.
  4. Pour a few ounces of hot water over the entire filter. Discard the water and place the dripper back on top of the carafe.
  5. Put coffee into filter and gently tap to level the grounds before adding just enough hot water to cover the grounds. Spend about 15 seconds pouring water back and forth over the coffee to saturate all of it, or use a spoon to ensure all the grounds are wet. Once saturated, wait about 30 seconds.
  6. Add remaining water by slowly pouring over all of the coffee, including right along the edge of the filter to ensure that coffee does not get trapped in the filter’s ripples. This stage of pouring should take anywhere from 1:15 – 1:45.
  7. Once the coffee finishes dripping through the filter, it is ready.

Cold Brew

Equipment needed

Fit Grinds coffee, 2 glass brewing containers, filter (can be cheese cloth, coffee filter, or fine mesh strainer), spoon, water, timer, scale

How it works
  1. Use a scale or use teaspoons/tablespoons to measure your coffee according to the below table. We highly recommend using a scale when possible.
  2. Add ground coffee and water to the glass container and gently swirl or stir with a spoon so all the grounds are saturated.
  3. Let the container sit in the fridge for about 18 hours or on the counter at room temperature for 12-14 hours.
  4. Once the time has passed, use the filter to slowly strain out the coffee grounds into another glass container. Do not over fill the filter or you run the risk of the brew running over the top.
  5. Fill a cup with some of the cold brew concentrate leaving enough space to dilute it 1:1 with water plus enough room for ice (if desired).
  6. The cold brew concentrate can be stored in the refrigerator for as long as a week, though we do not recommend storing it that long for any of the Fit Grinds coffees that contain nutritional additives as they may lose their effectiveness.
